Real healing for real humans
Unbound Phoenix Therapy is my trauma-informed, LGBTQ-affirming therapy practice in Virginia.
I provide therapy for adults, teens, children, couples, and families who are tired of surviving and ready for something that actually feels like healing.
This is therapy for people whose nervous systems learned to stay on high alert.
For neurospicy brains, tender hearts, complicated relationships, and stories that don’t fit neatly into boxes.

I offer in-person therapy in Northern Virginia and telehealth services across Virginia.

Meet Nicki —
Real, Human & A Little Witty
Hi there, I’m Nicki Venable, LPC (she/her)

I don’t believe you’re broken — I believe your system adapted brilliantly to what it was given.

In my work, healing isn’t about trying harder or being more positive. It’s about learning how to feel safer in your body, more connected in your relationships, and less at war with yourself.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and creative by design. I slow things down. I get curious. I honor protective parts.
And yes — I can hold humor, depth, and real talk in the same room.

Life is messy - especially when you’ve spent years trying to be who the world told you to be.
You might feel at home working with me if you:

-
Are neurodivergent, neurospicy, or exhausted from masking
-
Identify as LGBTQIA+ and want affirming, competent care
-
Are healing from complex trauma or chronic stress
-
Are in a relationship that needs support, repair, or re-negotiation
-
Have tried therapy before and thought, “This isn’t bad… but it’s not quite it.”
I work with individuals, couples, families, and relationships of all shapes and sizes across the lifespan.

I offer therapy services in Virginia for:

-
Adults, teens, and children
-
Couples and families
-
Trauma recovery and nervous system healing
My work may include trauma-informed approaches such as EMDR, parts-based therapy, emotional regulation skills, and expressive or creative interventions — always collaborative, always paced with care.
Services are available in person in Northern Virginia and via secure telehealth throughout Virginia.

How We Begin
Starting therapy is vulnerable — you don’t have to do it perfectly.

If contacting a therapist feels like a lot, you’re not doing it wrong. You don’t need a polished explanation or a clear plan. We can start at a pace that feels comfortable for you and your nervous system.

If you’re looking for an affirming, trauma-informed therapist in Virginia, you’re in the right place.
When you’re ready:
Reach out to Unbound Phoenix Therapy to schedule a consultation or ask questions about fit. Telehealth is available statewide, with in-person sessions in Northern Virginia.

If calling feels hard, that’s okay — you’re welcome to email or use the contact form instead.

When I talk to Nicki, I always feel like I'm heard and she's actually listening, and not just waiting for her turn to talk. I have always felt supported and safe when sharing things. What else can you ask for?
